Backflow testing,
done right.

Certified backflow testing and repair in Sanford and across Seminole County — the test report filed with your water utility, and the repair quoted on the spot if it fails.

You call Tavish Murray, and Tavish Murray shows up — the tester whose certification number goes on your report. If your city already tests residential devices for you, we say so on the phone instead of taking the job.

What we do

Services

Backflow testing and repair is the core. The operator licenses are why the list keeps going — line chlorination, bacteriological clearance and small-system consulting are operator work, and most testers cannot offer them.

See all services

Backflow Testing

Annual certified testing of your backflow preventer, with the test report filed with your water utility so the notice stops coming.

  • Certified test with a calibrated gauge kit
  • Report filed with your water utility
  • Failed device? Repair quoted on the spot

Backflow Repair

Failed the test? Rebuilt check valves, relief valves and seats, then retested and refiled so you are back in compliance on one visit where possible.

  • Rebuild kits for common DC, RPZ and PVB assemblies
  • Retest and refile included with the repair
  • Straight answer when replacement makes more sense

Commercial Backflow Testing

Multi-device properties — restaurants, HOAs, shopping centers, medical offices — tested on one schedule, with every report filed and a copy for your records.

  • Every device on the property tested in one visit
  • Reports filed per device, copies sent to you
  • Annual reminders so nothing lapses

Line Chlorination

Disinfection of new or repaired water mains and service lines to AWWA C651 so the line can be sampled, cleared and put into service.

  • Chlorination to AWWA C651
  • Flushing and dechlorination of discharge
  • Coordinated with bac-T sampling and clearance

Bacteriological Sampling Clearance

Bac-T sampling on new mains, repaired lines and wells, with samples collected correctly and results delivered to whoever is holding the clearance.

  • Samples collected per FDEP and utility requirements
  • Chain of custody to a certified lab
  • Results delivered to the utility, engineer or FDEP

Water & Wastewater Consultation

Licensed operator help for small water and wastewater systems — compliance questions, sampling, reporting, and a second set of eyes before FDEP asks.

  • Licensed DW and WW operator (Florida)
  • Compliance, sampling and reporting questions
  • Plain-English answers, not a retainer pitch
Who you are hiring

Tester, operator,
owner.

TJ Backflow Testing and Repair Services was registered in Sanford in 2021. The certification number on your test report belongs to the person who answers the phone.

Backflow testing in Seminole County is mostly done as a side line — by plumbing companies between bigger jobs, by fire protection firms for their own sprinkler accounts, by irrigation contractors who test what they install. TJ Backflow does the water side and only the water side.

Tavish Murray holds a Florida backflow tester certification (#7337) and, unusually for a tester, Florida drinking water and wastewater operator licenses as well (DW #A20193, WW #A16614). That is why the service list runs past testing into line chlorination, bacteriological clearance and small-system operator consulting — the work a licensed operator does, not a plumber.

We turn down tests when your city already does them for you, and we say which cities on every page of this site. We do not replace assemblies; that is licensed plumbing work in Florida and we tell you when you need it. What we do is test, repair, retest, and get the report to the right utility — the part that actually ends the notices.

Where we work

Seminole County,
plus Orlando.

Based in Sanford, on the truck across Seminole County, and in Orlando by the property for commercial accounts. Each city has its own water purveyor and its own program — the city pages say how each one works and who is expected to do the test.

Read us the notice. We tell you who it says should do the test, what it costs if that is us, and — if your city already tests for you — that you do not need us at all.
